Layered Zirconia Crowns
Layered Zirconia crowns are restorations that are layered with different ceramic powers that mimic the translucency of the natural surrounding dentition. This material is also sometimes known as multilayered Zirconia or porcelain layered Zirconia. Often time clinicians select Layered Zirconia over conventional PFMs or full gold crowns due to their superior strength, durability, and excellent aesthetics. Because of this we find here at Durham dental Laboratories that most dental practices are switching from conventional PFM crowns and moving towards the use of Zirconia material.
Layered Zirconia is more translucent and opalescent, but it is especially suitable for anterior crowns, unlike solid Zirconia. However layered Zirconia may also be used for posterior crowns if there is sufficient clearance. Layered Zirconia crowns have strength and consistency comparable with traditional PFM restorations, yet they provide far superior aesthetics. At our Lab we have achieved the very best aesthetic results through our skill and commitment can be achieved.
